Transformations is an educational organization developed in response to the growing interest in spirituality outside of traditional religious institutions. The Institute offers workshops and classes to the public as well as professionals.
Antoinette Saunders, PhD is a clinical psychologist, Spiritual Director and founder and co director of Transformations. Antoinette is a lecturer and author who taught at the University of Illinois Medical School and founded and directed The Capable Kid Counseling Centers. She has been practicing in the field of psychology for more than 30 years.
Harriet Porter, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker and co director of Transformations. Harriet has worked in the area of mind/body/spirit integration for more than 30 years. In addition to private practice Harriet is a popular lecturer on psychological and spiritual issues in the Chicago area.
"Step by step we take an early morning walk. Day by day, we write in our journal, work in a garden, light a candle, return to a piece of poetry, or go about the everyday things that keep life going. It all seems so slow, so ordinary. Still, thread by thread, we are learning the importance of staying with the process and reminded that there is no way to cultivate our souls in a hurry. There is no way to rush healing, forgiving, grieving, even growing; it is all about the slow process of transformation."
-- excerpted from Midwives of an Unnamed Future, Spirituality for Women in Times of Unprecedented Change by Mary Broz and Barb Flynn
